This is the reason why I typically avoid installing new updates immediately, but I felt like boldly going this time and I paid the price 🙂 ChromeOS Version 64 came to my lovely Samsung Chromebook PLUS last night, and I installed it immediately.
All is well except that it breaks how the stylus works with the right side expanded menus of ChromeOS. Namely the all important “three dots” menu, and the bookmark overflow (the “>>” when you have too many bookmarks in the bookmarks bar).
How is it broken?
When you touch either one of those, the options flash before your eyes and disappear. The normal behavior is for them to stay open, so you can select which options you want.
If I open them with a finger or the trackpad, they remain open. But if I hover the stylus on the screen, before I even get to touch the screen with the stylus, they disappear before I can touch them.
This happens with both the included stylus along with the Samsung co-branded Staedtler Norris stylus.
Both styli (correct plular but doesn’t feel right) work fine with Android apps, just not with the ChromeOS Chrome browser. Infact they work fine with the Chrome Beta Android browser too.
Both styli worked as expected before I updated to ChromeOS 64.
